Install, update and delete errors
What the errors mean when BakoshApp installs, updates or removes a mod or a game server — and how to fix each one.
Install, update and delete messages appear in the console at the bottom of BakoshApp (Show Console). For GTA V, RDR2 and TABS they start with "Failed to install mod:", "Failed to update mod:", "Failed to reinstall mod:" or "Mod deletion failed:", followed by the reason below.
The game folder
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| "Invalid folder: GTA5.exe or GTA5_Enhanced.exe not found" (or RDR2.exe, TotallyAccurateBattleSimulator.exe) | You picked the wrong folder. Choose the one that contains the game's .exe — see Installing mods. |
| "Please select the game folder first." | Pick the folder with Change folder before installing. |
| "Invalid GTA V path" (RDR2, TABS) | The saved folder no longer has the game — it was moved or deleted. Pick it again. |
| "Failed to open folder dialog" | Windows couldn't open the folder picker. Restart BakoshApp and try again. |
The game is running
"Please close GTA5 / GTA5_Enhanced first", "Please close RDR2 first", "Please close TABS first" — BakoshApp can't change the mod's files while the game runs. Close the game completely, including its launcher window, and try again.
Downloads
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| "You've made too many download attempts. Please wait a few minutes and try again." | The download server counts attempts from your connection (about seven in a row). Wait a few minutes and try once. |
| "Failed to download mod files. Please check your internet connection and try again later." | Check your connection, pause the antivirus or VPN if it blocks downloads, and try again. |
| "Failed to extract the downloaded archive. Please try again." | The download arrived but couldn't be unpacked into the game folder: the disk is full, or Windows doesn't allow writing there — see Permission errors. The download is kept, so the next try doesn't download it again. |
| "Please connect to the internet & log in to fetch mod details first." | Updating, reinstalling and deleting need the list of the mod's files from the server. Check your connection and that you're signed in, then restart BakoshApp. |
| "No files to delete" | There's nothing of the mod to remove. |
If an update or reinstall fails, the installed mod keeps working: BakoshApp downloads the new files before it touches the old ones.
Rust Survival server
A failed install or update shows in the console as "Installation failed: …" or "Update failed: …" ("Reinstall failed: …" when you start over with a new world), followed by the reason.
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| "SteamCMD installation failed" (or "SteamCMD not found", "SteamCMD failed") | SteamCMD, which downloads the server, couldn't run. Check your connection, pause the antivirus, make sure the disk has about 8 GB free, and try again. |
| A reason with "Access is denied" | The folder is protected — see Permission errors. |
| "Turn Rust Survival off in the sidebar first." | The server is running. Switch Rust Survival off in the sidebar and try again. |
| "The Rust Survival server install or update is not finished…" / "The server install or update is not finished…" | An install or update was cancelled or failed partway. Click Continue installation or Finish the update on Manage Mod. |
| "Rust Survival server is not installed. Please install it first on the manage page." | Install the server on Manage Mod before switching the mode on. |
| "Cannot start Rust Survival server while installation or reinstallation is in progress." | Wait for the installation or update to finish. |
| "Failed to start Rust Survival server: …" | The server stopped while starting. Try again; if it repeats, click Update Server — it repairs the server files and keeps your world. |
Update Server and Delete Server are unavailable while the server runs — switch Rust Survival off in the sidebar first.
Minecraft server
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| "This folder cannot be used…" | Drive roots, Windows, Program Files and similar system folders aren't allowed. Pick a folder like C:\MinecraftServer. |
| "The folder is not empty…" / "This folder was not created by BakoshApp…" | Choose an empty or new folder. |
| "Not enough free disk space…" | The server needs at least 2 GB free. |
| "This PC does not have enough memory…" | Lower Server memory in the server settings (Performance): it must leave 2 GB of RAM free. |
| "This port is used by BakoshApp itself…" | Ports 25655, 8832 and 8833 belong to BakoshApp — use another port, for example the default 25565. |
| "Turn the Minecraft mode off in the sidebar first." / "Another server operation is still running…" | Switch the Minecraft mode off in the sidebar, or wait for the running operation to finish. |
| "The downloaded file is damaged (checksum mismatch). Please try again." | The download was corrupted on the way. Try again. |
| "The download source is not on the list of trusted servers." / "The archive contains unsafe file paths and was not extracted." | BakoshApp refused a suspicious download. Try again later; if it repeats, report it in Community. |
