Installing, updating and removing mods

How BakoshApp installs a mod into your game folder, keeps it up to date and removes it — plus which mods share files, what the MAX lock means, and how the mod page is organised.

Every mod in the sidebar has its own page with four tabs: Manage Mod (install, update, remove), Presets (saved setups of actions and overlay), Actions (what viewers can trigger) and Overlay (widgets for your stream). This article covers Manage Mod.

Every mod can be installed on every plan. Free gives each mod a smaller set of actions (see Free vs PRO vs MAX), and the automatic mods need MAX to run.

Install a mod

This applies to the GTA V, RDR2 and TABS mods, which BakoshApp installs into your game folder. Rust Survival and the Minecraft mods install a server instead — see their pages. Minecraft x GTA V Chaos installs into GTA V like any GTA V mode and also sets up its own Minecraft — see its page.

  1. Close the game. BakoshApp can't install, update or remove files while it is running.

  2. Open the mod in the sidebar. You land on Manage Mod.

  3. Under Location of GTA V (or Location of RDR2, Location of TABS), click Change folder and choose the folder with the game's executable:

    GameThe folder must contain
GTA VGTA5.exe or GTA5_Enhanced.exe — Legacy and Enhanced are both accepted, except by Minecraft x GTA V Chaos, which needs Legacy (GTA5.exe)
    RDR2RDR2.exe
    TABSTotallyAccurateBattleSimulator.exe
  4. Click Install Mod and confirm. Progress appears in the console at the bottom of the window (Show Console).

  5. When the status reads Installed · up to date, switch the mod on in the sidebar.

Keep games out of Program Files

Windows doesn't let programs write into C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86). If your game is there, the install fails — move the game to a folder like D:\Games. See Permission errors.

Only one mod runs at a time

The switch next to each mod in the sidebar turns it on. Turning a mod on turns the previous one off, and stream events go only to the active mod. Switching also resets the like counters and the Once per viewer lists of triggers.

Updates

BakoshApp checks every installed mod each time it starts and updates it on its own — the console shows "Auto-updating … mod..." and the result. Your settings are kept.

If a new version comes out while BakoshApp is running, the status line on Manage Mod shows Update available with both version numbers, and the button becomes Update Mod.

Reinstall Mod downloads and installs the current version again, for example after a game update broke something. Updates and reinstalls download the new files before touching the old ones, so a failed download leaves the installed mod working.

Full removal

The Update Mod, Reinstall Mod and Delete Mod dialogs have a Full removal checkbox. It also deletes files that updates and normal removal leave in place:

  • GTA V — the chaosmod and menyooStuff folders: configs, your own sounds and scripts, Menyoo saves.
  • RDR2 — the ChaosMod folder: the mod's config and logs.
  • TABS — the BepInEx log and cache (BepInEx/LogOutput.log and BepInEx/cache). BepInEx itself, its config and your other plugins stay.

Leave it unchecked to keep your settings. Tick it when a mod keeps misbehaving and you want a clean start.

Mods that share files

  • All GTA V modes — GTA V KOTH, GTA V Chaos, GTA V Train Auto and GTA V KOTH Auto — use the same mod files.
  • RDR2 Chaos, RDR2 Train Auto, RDR2 KOTH and RDR2 KOTH Auto also share one set of files.

Each GTA V and RDR2 mode remembers its own game folder. You can point them all at one game install or keep separate copies. If several modes use the same folder, they use the same installed files: installing one installs them for all, and deleting one deletes them for all.

Automatic mods need MAX

GTA V Train Auto, GTA V KOTH Auto, RDR2 Train Auto and RDR2 KOTH Auto run on their own and are marked A in the sidebar. Without MAX:

  • a lock replaces their switch — clicking it opens Pricing Plans;
  • the Presets, Actions and Overlay tabs are locked, with the note "This automatic mod requires the MAX subscription.";
  • Manage Mod still works, so you can install and set up the mod before you subscribe.

Remove a mod

Close the game and click Delete Mod. BakoshApp removes the mod's files from the game folder; the game itself isn't touched. With Full removal unticked, the mod's settings stay in the folder for the next install.

Common questions

I installed the mod — do I have to install it again for the other GTA V modes? Only if the other mode points to a different folder. Open that mode's Manage Mod page: if it shows Installed · up to date, it's ready.

Can I keep my own mods in the game folder? Yes. BakoshApp removes only its own files. For TABS, the BepInEx folder is never deleted, because other plugins may live there.

The install fails. The console shows the reason. The common ones — and what to do — are in Install, update and delete errors.
