Bakosh Avatar
A 3D VRM avatar that follows your face through the webcam: characters, tracking, lip-sync, 3D scenes, the Avatar overlay widget, the virtual camera and the Avatar actions viewers trigger.
Bakosh Avatar puts a 3D character on your stream that copies your head and face through the webcam, moves its mouth when you talk, and reacts to your viewers: they wave it, dress it up, make it talk and shake the camera with gifts and chat. You show it on stream with the Avatar overlay widget or, on PRO, as a webcam called Bakosh Avatar Camera.
Plan: Free. The avatar, its tracking, the Free characters, the 3D scenes, the overlay widget and every Avatar action work on every plan. PRO and MAX add PRO characters, your own VRM models and the virtual camera.
The avatar is one for the whole app, not per mod: the character, tracking and look you set on the Avatar page are used by every mod's overlay.
Turn it on
- Click Avatar in the top bar of the app.
- On the Tracking tab, switch on Avatar tracking.
- Look at the status at the top of the page: Camera on, Face found and the frame rate mean tracking works.
While tracking is on, BakoshApp keeps the webcam busy. The Avatar button in the top bar shows the camera status with a dot: grey — Tracking off, yellow — Starting camera…, green — Camera on, red — a problem (hover it to read which one).
The character doesn't need a webcam to be alive: it blinks, breathes, sways and plays viewer actions without one, and lip-sync can move its mouth from the microphone or TTS Chat.
The Avatar page
On the left is the Preview. It is drawn exactly like the overlay widget, so what you see here is what goes on stream.
- Model shows the character. The Try it buttons — Happy, Surprised, Hit, Shake, Orbit — play a quick effect. They play in the overlay too, so don't click them live unless you mean it.
- Camera shows your webcam picture with the face points that tracking detects — handy for checking light and framing. This picture never goes to the overlay or the virtual camera.
On the right are three tabs: Tracking, Character and Virtual camera. Settings save automatically.
Tracking
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Camera | Which webcam to track. Default camera uses the Windows default. The Bakosh Avatar Camera itself is never offered here. |
| Mirror | On by default: turn left and the avatar turns to your left, like a mirror. |
| Sensitivity | How far the avatar turns its head after yours, 0–300. 50 is like you; higher exaggerates. |
| Body movement | How much the whole avatar follows your head, 0–300: lean toward the camera and it comes closer (up to its face filling the frame), move sideways and it moves too, sit up and it rises. 0 keeps the body still while the head still turns; 50 is like you. |
| Smoothing | 0–100, 50 by default. Higher is softer with more delay, lower is quicker but jittery. |
| Calibrate neutral pose | Sit as usual, look straight at the camera with a relaxed face and press it. Works once a face is found. |
| Idle behaviour | Auto blink, Breathing and Sway — all on by default. |
Press Calibrate neutral pose again. Calibration remembers where you sat; if you moved the chair or the camera, the avatar keeps leaning until you recalibrate.
Lip-sync
Under Lip-sync on the Tracking tab:
- From microphone (off by default) — the mouth follows your voice even when the camera can't see it well. Choose the Microphone and set Microphone sensitivity (0–100): higher opens the mouth at a quieter voice, lower ignores background noise.
- From TTS Chat (on by default) — the avatar mouths the chat messages that TTS Chat reads aloud, and the phrases of the Say action.
Characters
The Character tab shows the current character; Change opens Choose a character with every character as a card. Click a card to use it: a character that isn't downloaded yet downloads first and switches on by itself. The trash icon on a downloaded card deletes it from your PC.
- Aru, the default character, and Temir are Free.
- Characters with a PRO badge are locked on Free.
- Import VRM… (PRO) adds your own model: a VRM 0.x or 1.0 file up to 48 MB. It is uploaded to your bakosh.app account, so it is there on another PC too, and it's marked My model. Your models share 256 MB of storage; deleting a model removes it from the account as well.
Characters come from bakosh.app, so the list needs an internet connection the first time.
Framing and background
Under Overlay look on the Character tab:
- Framing — a slider from Close-up through Bust to Full body; click a label to jump to it. The same slider is in the Avatar widget settings: one framing for every widget.
- Scene background — Transparent, Color or 3D scene. This is the default for the Avatar widget; a widget can override it in the overlay editor.
3D scene puts the character inside a small room or place, and the camera really moves through it, so turning your head or a camera shot gives depth. The scenes are Gamer Room, Streamer Studio, Retro Arcade, Lo-fi Room, Synthwave, Cyberpunk City, Esports Arena and Space Station, all Free. Each one has a Bakosh head in it that lights up when the avatar talks.
With a scene picked, Push background back (0–100) moves the scene farther behind the character, so more of the room fits in the frame.
Show it on stream
Avatar widget
- Open a mod → Overlay.
- Add Widget → Interactive → Avatar.
- Place and size it like any other widget, then add the overlay link to OBS or TikTok LIVE Studio as described in Overlay.
The widget always shows the character, tracking and framing from the Avatar page — BakoshApp draws the avatar, so the app has to be running with Avatar tracking on for your face to move it. In the widget settings you can still change:
- Framing — the shared slider;
- Mirror — flips the picture;
- Scene background — From the app (the default, the look from the Avatar page), Transparent, Color, Image or 3D scene with its own Push background back.
For OBS and TikTok LIVE Studio the widget is the best way to show the avatar: tracking goes straight into it with the least delay.
Virtual camera (PRO)
The Virtual camera tab turns the avatar into a webcam named Bakosh Avatar Camera that any app can pick — TikTok LIVE Studio, OBS, Discord and others.
- Under Driver, click Install. No administrator rights are needed.
- Make sure Avatar tracking is on, then switch on Virtual camera on.
- In the other app, pick Bakosh Avatar Camera as the camera.
The section header shows Camera on and whether an app is reading it (In use by an app or Waiting for an app).
- Resolution — 1280×720 (the default), 1920×1080, 960×540, or portrait 720×1280 and 1080×1920. Frame rate — 30 or 60 fps.
- Framing — the virtual camera has its own slider.
- Background — Color (green by default, for a chroma key), Image or 3D scene. A webcam has no transparency, so there is no transparent option.
- Also for admin apps — apps running as administrator (for example OBS "as administrator") only see cameras registered for all users. This button registers the camera for them too and asks for administrator rights once.
- When a newer driver ships with the app, the button changes to Update.
- The trash icon next to the driver (Remove) unregisters the camera. Uninstalling BakoshApp removes it too.
Avatar actions
Viewers control the avatar through actions, like any other mod action: open a mod → Actions → Add new, choose a trigger, then pick an action on the Avatar tab of All Actions and click Configure. The Avatar tab is there in every mod and every custom integration. All 9 Avatar actions are Free.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Avatar Expression | Shows a face — the VRM presets plus the character's own expressions. List several names and turn on Pick at random for a random one. |
| Avatar Animation | Plays a gesture clip: wave, clap, cheer, dance, bow, nod, head shake, shrug, thumbs up, peace or jump. Loop keeps it going until the action is stopped or another animation starts. |
| Switch Character | Switches to another downloaded character, and back after Return after (seconds); 0 keeps it until the next switch. |
| Camera Shot | Close-up, Bust, Full body, Orbit, Shake, Zoom punch or Reset. |
| Hit / Impulse | Knocks the avatar from a direction with a chosen Strength. |
| Speech Bubble | A Speech, Thought or Shout bubble above the head. |
| Particle Effect | Hearts, Confetti, Sparks, Coins or Stars around the avatar. |
| Prop | Puts on a hat, cap, crown, sunglasses, a moustache, a rose, a heart, a doughnut, an ice cream or a GG sign — modelled after popular TikTok gifts. Remove after (seconds); 0 keeps it until it is replaced or the action is stopped. |
| Say | Speaks a phrase with the TTS Chat voice and shows it in a bubble. |
The left side of the configure dialog plays the action on your current character, with the settings you're editing. Only you see this preview; it never reaches the overlay.
The text of Speech Bubble and Say can include event variables: {username}, {nickname}, {comment}, {giftName}, {repeatCount}, {likeCount} and {diamondCount} — for example Thanks, {username}!.
Say needs a voice picked in TTS Chat, which is PRO and MAX; without a voice the phrase isn't spoken. It is spoken straight away, ahead of chat messages waiting in the TTS queue.
Avatar actions play in the overlay and the virtual camera even when the game isn't running. Disabling or interrupting the action stops what it started — a looping animation, a prop, a temporary character.

Common questions
OBS or TikTok LIVE Studio can't open my webcam any more. While Avatar tracking is on, BakoshApp uses the webcam, and Windows lets only one app open a physical camera at a time. Show the avatar instead of the webcam, or switch tracking off when you need the camera elsewhere.
The avatar in OBS moves at a few frames per second. OBS draws browser sources without the graphics card when hardware acceleration is off. In OBS, open Settings → Advanced and turn on Enable Browser Source Hardware Acceleration, then restart OBS.
The avatar in the overlay doesn't move. BakoshApp has to be running with Avatar tracking on, and your face has to be found — check the Camera preview. The widget alone has no camera.
Bakosh Avatar Camera isn't in my app's camera list. Install the driver and switch on Virtual camera on, then reopen the app's camera list. If the app runs as administrator, also click Also for admin apps.
Say shows the bubble but stays silent. Pick a voice in TTS Chat — Say uses that voice.
