Mod install errors

Common errors when installing, reinstalling, or removing mods in BakoshApp — for GTA V KOTH, GTA V Chaos, GTA V Train, Rust Survival, and RDR2 Chaos.

BakoshApp ships with five mods: GTA V KOTH, GTA V Chaos, GTA V Train (MAX-only), Rust Survival, and RDR2 Chaos. A few things to know before troubleshooting an install error:

  • KOTH, Chaos, and Train share the same mod archive (gta.zip) inside GTA V. Each variant has its own install folder setting, but if you point all three at the same GTA V folder, one install covers all three. If you point them at different folders, you need to run install separately for each.
  • Rust Survival is a separate game server that BakoshApp downloads and runs on your machine. By default it installs into C:\RustServer.
  • RDR2 Chaos installs into the Red Dead Redemption 2 folder (separate from GTA V).
Before you continue

Most install errors are fixed by one of three actions: free up disk space, run BakoshApp as administrator, or temporarily disable your antivirus. Try those first.

GTA V KOTH, Chaos, and Train — install errors

"GTA5.exe not found" / Invalid GTA5 path

The folder you selected does not contain GTA5.exe, so BakoshApp cannot install the mod.

Fix

Open the mod page (KOTH, Chaos, or Train) → Manage Mod tab → Change folder. Pick the root folder of GTA V (the one with GTA5.exe inside). Each variant has its own folder setting — fix the one you're trying to install.

"Close GTA5 first"

You are trying to install, reinstall, or remove the mod while the game is running. Fully close GTA5.exe and try again.

"Token save failed"

The app could not write its helper file into the game folder, usually because of Windows permission restrictions. Run BakoshApp as administrator. See Access Denied for a step-by-step guide.

"No files to delete"

The mod has already been removed, or the app is reading a stale state. Restart BakoshApp.

Rust Survival — install errors

"RustDedicated.exe is running"

You cannot reinstall or remove server files while the Rust server is running. Open the Manage Mod tab on the Rust Survival page and stop the server with the slider before retrying.

"Server install failed"

The Rust server files could not be downloaded. Common causes: not enough disk space (~10 GB is required), antivirus blocking the Steam downloader, an unstable connection, or the folder being a protected system path like C:\Program Files.

Fix

Free up disk space. Pick a folder outside C:\Program Files (default is C:\RustServer). Temporarily disable your antivirus. Then retry the install.

"Invalid Rust server path"

Open the Manage Mod tab on the Rust Survival page, click Change folder, and select a folder that exists.

Shared install errors

"Action not found in global categories" / Blocked action (Available for PRO subscribers)

The action is either PRO-only, or you have hit the Free-plan limit. Check your subscription on the pricing page. On Free, only a subset of actions is available — see Free vs PRO.

"You've made too many download attempts" (HTTP 429)

The mod-file server (get.bakosh.app) has temporarily throttled downloads from your device because too many were requested in a short window. The threshold is around 7 downloads in a row. This applies to GTA V (KOTH/Chaos), RDR2 Chaos, and Rust Survival plugin updates.

Fix

Wait 5–10 minutes and click Install Mod (or Reinstall / Update) again. The limit resets on its own — you do not need to restart anything. If it still fails after 10 minutes, check your internet and temporarily disable your antivirus.

"Failed to download mod files"

The mod archive failed to download. Usual causes: internet hiccup, dropped connection, antivirus blocking the download, or get.bakosh.app being temporarily unreachable. Check your connection, temporarily disable your antivirus, retry. If it keeps failing, wait a few minutes — the servers may be under maintenance.

"Failed to extract the downloaded archive"

The archive downloaded but could not be unpacked: it is corrupt, you are out of disk space, or Windows blocked writing to the game folder. Free up disk space, run BakoshApp as administrator, and try again.

"Install failed" / "Reinstall failed"

A generic install failure that did not match any of the cases above (rare). Restart BakoshApp, ideally as administrator. If it keeps happening, contact @bauritoo in Discord with a log.

"Connection failed" / "Connection timeout"

The app could not reach Bakosh.app servers within 15 seconds. Check your internet. If your connection is fine, the servers may be under maintenance — wait a few minutes.
